Hi, I’m Martha Odumu
Photographer & Blogger
Hi everyone! I’m Martha Odumu.
Born on April 13th, 1976 in Nigeria, my parents served with a mission hospital in Benue State. At age 5, they noticed swellings on my fingers and elbow joints which were very painful, according to my mom, and I had fever as well.
Even though my both parents were nurses at the time, they had no clue what was going on with me since sickle cell was the last thing on their minds. Doing a genotype test before marriage wasn’t a priority then, moreover, I had three older siblings who were in perfect health. They took me to the hospital for treatment and I was daiagnosed SS genotype after series of laboratory tests, to my parents’ greatest surprise. I ended up as an inpatient and had blood transfusion because I was anemic as well. That was the beginning of my long hospital journeys. the time!
We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves.
GAUTAMA BUDDHA
I’m the only child of my parents out of seven children with SS genotype. The power of sickle cell disease has been assuaged in my life through the support of my loving parents, especially, in my tender years, the unwavering devotion of my amazing husband and above all, the grace, power and wisdom of the Almighty God upon my life.
Through unwavering faith and God’s infinite grace, I became a nurse, and also a parent of two grown children.
I’m a strong believer in Divine healing. Even though I’ve experienced numerous spontaneous healings in my life, I’m looking forward to experiencing the perfect healing my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ purchased on the Cross of Calvary for me. (Isaiah 53:4,5).
I’m harnessing my experience to extend a helping hand to those navigating similar paths of pain. My mission is to be a beacon of hope, offering comfort, inspiration, and the essential tools needed to triumph over health adversities.
My blog is a safe haven for those battling difficult health challenges, and a warm embrace for the caregivers supporting them every step of the way. Through powerful stories and heartfelt insights, we’ll navigate the stormy seas of life together, reminding each other that we are never alone.
I invite you to join me on this transformative journey, as we discover the strength within, harness the power of resilience, the beauty of hope and turn pain to gain. Together, we’ll uplift each other’s spirits and find the light that leads us towards brighter tomorrows and rise above any adversity.
