Sometimes God Answers Prayers Through the Hands of Doctors
When people talk about miracles, they often imagine dramatic moments—sudden healings or supernatural events.
But over the years, I have learned that some miracles wear hospital uniforms.
Living with sickle cell disease means becoming very familiar with hospitals, clinics, and medical teams. There were many seasons when doctors and nurses became part of my life story.
Some of them met me during pain crises.
Some guided treatment decisions.
Some simply offered kindness when fear was present.
Each encounter reminded me of something profound:
God often answers prayers through people.
When I prayed for relief during painful episodes, sometimes the answer came through medication prescribed by a thoughtful physician.
When I prayed for strength to recover, sometimes the answer came through a nurse who monitored my care with compassion and patience.
Medicine and faith were never enemies in my journey.
They were partners.
God gives wisdom to scientists who study diseases.
He gives skill to doctors who diagnose and treat.
He gives compassion to nurses who care for the vulnerable.
And through their hands, healing flows.
I have met medical professionals whose dedication reminded me that their work is more than a career—it is a calling.
They stay through long hours.
They comfort frightened patients.
They celebrate progress.
And sometimes, they quietly stand beside people walking through suffering.
Every time I receive medical care, I see a reflection of God’s provision.
Because the same God who performs miracles is also the God who gives humanity the wisdom to fight disease.
Faith and medicine together have carried me through many seasons.
And for that, my heart is full of gratitude.
