My condition did not cancel my calling.
Living with sickle cell meant my body often needed rest when my heart wanted to run.
There were seasons when pain slowed me down.
There were moments when crises interrupted plans.
Yet through it all, God kept placing one burden on my heart:
Serve others.

Instead of allowing illness to become the defining story of my life, God transformed it into the motivation behind my mission.
That mission eventually became OCMMI —a nonprofit my husband and I founded— dedicated to bringing hope and healing and the love of Christ to underserved communities.
Through medical outreaches and hospital missions, in partnerships with compassionate professionals, thousands of people in rural communities have received medical care they otherwise could not afford.

Ironically, it was my own experiences inside hospitals that deepened my passion to help others access healthcare.
When you have personally known pain, you recognize suffering more quickly in others.
And when God lifts you from the verge of death more than once, gratitude becomes fuel for service.
Sickle cell did not disqualify me from purpose. It clarified it.

God showed me that even weakness can become a tool in His hands.
Because sometimes the most powerful servants are those who understand suffering firsthand.
Scripture
“But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.”
— 2 Chronicles 15:7 (NIV)
