Day 20: Strength Beyond Physical Limits

Scripture

“Blessed be the LORD my strength, Which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight: My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust.” — Psalm 144:1–2 (KJV)

When God Gives Strength Beyond Expectations

When people hear the words sickle cell, they often imagine limitations.

And understandably so.

Sickle cell is known for pain crises, fatigue, hospital visits, and unpredictable health challenges.

Because of this, many people quietly assumed there were things I simply would not be able to do.

But God had a different story for my life.

There were seasons when I worked as a bedside nurse in the hospital, caring for patients through long shifts.

Later, I served in APIN, an outpatient infectious disease center, managing a structured 9–5 nursing role that required consistency, focus, and emotional strength.

Beyond my professional work, life continued to expand.

I became a wife.
I carried and gave birth to my children.
I raised my family.

At the same time, God opened doors for international travel.

I traveled by air across continents — to the United Kingdom, the United States, and other countries — even during winter seasons that many would consider difficult for someone with sickle cell.

Then came the calling to serve through medical missions, bringing healthcare and hope to underserved communities.

Today, I also serve in leadership as Vice President of OCMMI, helping guide an organization committed to bringing health, healing, and hope to vulnerable communities.

Looking at all these responsibilities, many people would naturally ask:

How is this possible with sickle cell disease?

The answer is simple.

God was my strength.

Not my body.

Not my own endurance.

But the strength God gives to those who trust Him.

Psalm 144 reminds us that God teaches our hands to war and our fingers to fight.

Sometimes the battles are physical.

Sometimes they are emotional.

Sometimes they are spiritual.

But when God strengthens you, you discover that your life can extend far beyond what your limitations predicted.

I have learned that illness may set certain boundaries.

But God’s strength can still take you further than you ever imagined.

Praise Declaration

Today I praise God for strength beyond human limitations.
